Vikings win, in playoffs

Travis Bell threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and the Swan Valley ground game accounted for 156 yards as the Vikings routed Shepherd 37-0 in a Tri- Valley Central Conference game Oct. 12 at home.

The win lifted Swan Valley to 6-2 on the season and qualified the team for the playoffs. The Vikes close out the regular season Friday night on the road against non-league foe Bangor John Glenn.

One year ago, the Vikes narrowly missed securing a playoff spot, going 5-4.

Swan Valley did all of its scoring against Shepherd in the first half, taking a 17-0 lead after one quarter, and scoring 20 more points in the second. The second half was played under a running clock.

Bell’s TD tosses included a 10-yard scoring pass to Leontay White and a 12-yard pass to Brock Notter. Ben Hart added a 55- yard interception return for a touchdown and Alex Dils blocked a punt in the end zone for another score. Alex Grace added a rushing TD and Ben Finzel booted a 28- yard field goal.

Defensively, Taylor Reaume registered four tackles and five assists while Dils added four solos and four assists.
