Local teens in top 15 for NAM Miss Michigan

Two local Heritage High School teens were privileged to compete for National American Miss Michigan Junior Teen in Dearborn July 6- 8. Freshman Margaux Wellman and sophomore Marlee Curnutt successfully finished in the top 15.

Each contestant was judged on personal introduction, interview skills, formal wear and community service. Wellman also captured Miss Personality and was in an optional spokes model competition, placing third.

Tri-City Nets to host blood drive Aug. 5 at Timbers

SAGINAW – The Tri-City Nets basketball program will be hosting a blood drive on Monday, Aug. 5, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Timbers Bar and Grill, 6415 State St., Saginaw Township.

The Nets basketball program will earn $10 for every person who registers to donate. Donors will receive a free appetizer with the purchase of two $10 meals from Timbers.

SV Adult/Alternative Education Holds Open Enrollment Aug. 12-22

THOMAS TWP. – The Swan Valley Adult/Alternative Education program is seeking students wishing to return to school this fall. The program will hold open enrollment Monday through Thursday from Aug. 12-22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students must be 16 by Sept.1 to enroll, but there is no upper age limit. Those between the ages of 16 and 19 are considered alternative education students, while those 20 and older are enrolled in adult education.

Prospective students will need a copy of their transcripts from their former school, a copy of their birth certificate and a photo I.D.

Frankenmuth police seeking reserve officers

The Frankenmuth Police Department is seeking reserve officers. Recruiting staff will be at the Saginaw Township Police Department’s National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 3575 McCarty Road, at the Saginaw Township Soccer Complex.

Recruiters will be taking applications and answering questions about the program, hiring process and academy. They are accepting applications for police reserve officers. This is a volunteer position to serve the Saginaw County community as a police officer, and is a great way for those going into law enforcement to gain experience and knowledge.
