Saginaw County Fair Time!

In case you might have missed it, the Saginaw County Fair is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year at the fairgrounds in Chesaning. A 24-page special section in last week’s Township View talked about the fair in great detail.

Even though the fair got underway on Tuesday, there’s still plenty to see and do this week. Today is Toddler Day and Hometown Day. The grandstand entertainment tonight will be a motocross.

Friday, Aug. 2 is Agriculture Day, with the highlight being the junior livestock auction beginning at 3 p.m. A monster truck thrill show was entertain the grandstand crowd.

The fair closes out on Saturday, Aug. 3 with Kids Safety Day. In addition to lots of kids safety activities form 11 a.m to 2 p.m., there will be the Rich Rehmann Firemen’s Fun Challenge at 11 a.m., minnow racing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a marble shooting contest in the exhibit hall from 1 to 5 p.m. Closing out the activities will be the Broken Horn rodeo in the grandstand.

Tickets to the fair are $10, which includes admission, amusement rides, grandstand shows, parking and of course the popular nightly fireworks display.
