New Hope Valley Assisted Living residents visit Children’s Zoo, prepare for fall events
SAGINAW – On Thursday, Aug. 28, New Hope Valley Assisted Living residents, staff, and volunteers went on an afternoon expedition to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square. The day was warm but comfortable, and made for perfect zoo weather. The residents were paired with staff and volunteers, and walked from exhibit to exhibit. Popular animals included the capuchin monkeys, bald eagles, and an eastern grey kangaroo.
Several residents were intrigued by the Celebration Square Carousel in the zoo. The carousel features carved panels depicting scenes in Saginaw’s history. A few residents and staff even took a spin on the carousel, while others were content to watch.
K. Rumi Shahzad, managing director and co-founder of New Hope Valley, stated, “It’s so important for our residents to get out and enjoy the community. For many of them, Saginaw has been their lifelong home, and they delight in the chance to spend time here with new friends.”
This fall will bring plenty of other excitement to New Hope Valley. The community’s 13,000 square foot expansion, which includes an enclosed courtyard, new activities space, and larger beauty salon, will be completed later this fall. The residents are also planning trips to Bayne’s Apple Valley Farm, Hemmeter’s Farm Market, and Temple Theater for September.
