Free depression screenings offered Oct. 21 and 30

SAGINAW – The Counseling Center of Child and Family Services are offering free depression screenings for adults. Depression screening appointments are available and may be scheduled on: Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2 – 4 p.m.; and Thursday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m. – noon.

Screenings will take approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted at Child & Family Services, 2806 Davenport Road, Saginaw. Participants should keep in mind this is a screening to determine the need for further assessment of the presenting issue. For more information or to schedule a free screening, call (989) 790-7500.

Amnesty days at Thomas Township Library

THOMAS TWP. – Those who have been delaying the return of long overdue library materials to the Thomas Township Library may bring them back on Amnesty Days, no questions asked. Late fees will be waived on overdue items returned on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 23.

Items can be dropped off at the circulation desk or in the outside drop box. This is a great opportunity to get back in good standing at the library.

Amnesty does not apply to previously existing fines, rental fees, and lost or damaged materials.

SV Meet the Candidate Night

The Swan Valley Community Support Network is sponsoring a Meet the Candidate night on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Swan Valley Middle School.

This is an opportunity for the community to meet candidates running for a seat on the Swan Valley Board of Education. Candidates will take written questions from those in attendance, and each candidate will be given an opportunity to state his or her goals for the district.

Marlee’s walk/run for St. Jude set for Oct. 26

The seventh annual Marlee’s 5K run/walk for St. Jude will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26. Registration is at 11:45 a.m. at Imerman Park. The cost is $7 to participate. There will be a bake sale and raffle on the day of the event as well. Raffle prizes include Red Wing tickets, Lions tickets, gift cards, Halloween basket and more. Donations have been received from Team One Credit Union, Fabiano Brothers, Flowing Chi Dojo and more.
