New independent living facility approved for Saginaw Township
SAGINAW TWP. – The Saginaw Township Board of Trustees approved a special permit to allow the construction of New Hope Independent Living, a 70,000 square foot independent living facility that will consist of 55 units located at 3785 North Center Road. Construction is tentatively being scheduled for March, 2015.
“This is going to be a new kind of facility to promote individual living,” explained Assistant Director of Community Development Bridget Smith. “There will be a mix of one to two bedroom units along with different facilities available to those living in these units.”
Trustee John Howell who also serves on the Saginaw Township Planning Commission added that the Planning Commission was happy with the project.
“We did ask a lot of questions but overall we felt very comfortable with the plan overall.”
Saginaw Township Supervisor Tim Braun added that the process has been smooth and the current New Hope Valley Assisted Living & Memory Care Community is impressive.
“We’ve all had the pleasure of touring the facility,” Braun said. “It’s simply beautiful, spacious with a carefully selected staff that’s very friendly.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how the new facility works out.”
Dr. Akbar of New Hope Valley thanked Saginaw Township, the Board of Trustees and the Planning Commission for the progress made and the approval for New Hope Independent Living.
“The way this plan was looked at and the way the township worked with us was impressive,” Akbar said. “It’s been a great experience and this should be a beautiful, great addition that we’re looking forward to starting on in the spring.”
The Saginaw Township Board of Trustees will meet again at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 15 at the Saginaw Township Hall located at 4980 Shattuck Road.
