Jon Gardey speaks at recent Trends in Occupational Studies Conference

SAGINAW – Jonathan M. Gardey, CFA®, CFP®, president of Gardey Financial Advisors, was a presenter at the Trends in Occupational Studies Conference as one of the Michigan Community College professors and administrators. His presentation, “State of the Economy – Michigan and U.S.,” focused on the current economic conditions and forecast for the state and the country with supporting data indicating the future financial climate.

While preparing for the presentation, Gardey was able to formalize his thinking on the U.S. and Michigan economies and provide this information to Michigan Community College professors and administrators, as well as to the conference attendees.

Gardey has been with the firm since 1993. A graduate of both the University of Wisconsin and Columbia University, New York City, Gardey earned a master of Business Administration degree in Finance and in Money and Financial Markets. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charter holder and a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. Gardey previously served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society of Detroit, and the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council.

Mike Dorman honored as driver of the month

Saginaw native Mike Dorman recently earned a company wide honor from his employer, Conway Truckload. Conway chose Dorman, a professional truck driver, as Company Driver of the Month for March 2015. He was chosen out of 956 drivers across the country.

Dorman has been driving professionally for more than 14 years.

“I served four years in the Air Force,” he said of his career path. After his position concluded, he joined Con-way Truckload. “I enjoy driving. It allows me to put bread on my table,” he explained.

Dorman was recognized for his achievement in a meeting at the Con-way Truckload headquarters in Joplin, Missouri earlier this month.
