Businesses acknowledged at special STBA luncheon

While four businesses received Business of the Year awards from Saginaw Township and one business was selected as the Saginaw Township Business Association’s (STBA) Business of the Year, numerous other local businesses and entities were recognized for their impact on the community.

In his annual State of the Township address, township Supervisor Tim Braun acknowledged the significant investment of Sheraton Four Points Hotel on Tittabawassee Road including the addition of Uno Pizzeria & Grill. Draper Toyota on Bay Road was noted for its added service space and Rob Draper was commended for the work he has done throughout his dealerships.

Additionally, Braun spoke of Bill McDonald and the new McDonald KIA dealership on State Street as well as the improvements, renovations and additions being made to New Hope Valley on North Center Road. Great Lakes PACE elder care facility was also acknowledged for its services including a pharmacy lab, physical and operational therapy facilities and providing meals and transportation to those in need.

St. Thomas Aquinas on State Street was publically acknowledged for the work it has done throughout the property, including external renovations and iron-rod fencing to help with the State Street development plan.

Saginaw Control and Engineering on Midland Road was recognized for its steady growth since 2009 including three major investments and the hiring of new employees, as well as a recent proposal to expand its overall space by 32 percent. Ken Boomer was acknowledged for his work in managing local Tim Hortons branches throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and for the new Tim Hortons being built on Tittabawassee Road. Also on Tittabawassee Road, Longhorn Steakhouse was mentioned as planning to build.

Community development projects including Tuscany Villas on McCarty Road that was mentioned as a growing project for Saginaw Township. The recent remodeling of the meeting room at Zauel Library was credited to the donation from the Kurumety family to honor the Dr. Suryarao Kurumety.
