Grand Blanc auto plaza acquiring Draper dealerships

Photo by Jeanne Marcello SAGINAW - Al Serra Auto Plaza, of Grand Blanc, is in the final stages of acquiring Draper Chevrolet and Draper Toyota in Saginaw Township, the dealerships recently announced.

Draper was founded in 1924 and opened its present location at 4200 Bay Rd. in September, 1978.

Owner/President Rob Draper represents the third generation of auto dealers. In an email blast to customers dated Thursday, July 6, he said his company’s partnership with the Al Serra Auto Plaza will be finalized on Aug. 7.

“On that date, our name will officially change to Serra Chevrolet Saginaw and Serra Toyota Saginaw,” Draper wrote. “It’s my sincere belief that in blending our two outstanding customer-focused automotive groups, your enjoyment of the car buying experience will be taken to an all-new level.”

“In the meantime, I assure you all the friendly, familiar faces you look forward to seeing when you visit us on Bay Road will still be here and that includes me,” Draper wrote. “Every one of us at Draper, soon to be Serra, thank for you for your business. Since 1924, you have been our one and only priority and, let me assure you, that is something that will never change.”

Al Serra Chevrolet Sales Manager Kevin Cassidy, who currently works in Grand Blanc, will join the Saginaw team as executive manager, the email announced. Cassidy started out in the car business with Serra in 1989.

“He brings with him the same passion for serving the customer that has long driven our success,” Draper wrote.
