SAGINAW TWP. – Imerman Memorial Park, on Midland Road (M-47) sustained significant damage due to flooding in late June.

Saginaw County Outdoor Recreation and Events Coordinator Tonya Huber told the View that portions of the park have been closed due to flood damage. “We’re looking to reopen large sections of the river trail soon,” she said. However, smaller trails will take longer.

“The fishing dock was damaged. We are unsure when we will have a fishing dock available,” Huber said. The county parks are looking at both options of repairing or replacing it.

“The boat launch was not damaged, it was just underwater,” she said.

We’re on a flood watch. We’re just hoping we don’t flood [again].”

It should be noted that the dog park and children’s playground were not damaged in the June flood and these facilities are open for use.
