North vs South Juniors All Stars

Photo by Lamont Lenar The North Saginaw Township All Stars faced off against the Saginaw Township South All Stars in the first round of the Juniors tournament July 6, the North won the game 11-1.

The North scored two runs in the first. Mitchell Smith led off the bottom inning with a single and worked his way over to third, then Nolan Matuszewski drew a walk.

Dominic Simpson hit a sacrifice grounder to score. Smith followed by Carter Sullivan with a single to send Matuszewski home for the 2-0 lead.

Matthew Cole started the second with a single, then Brady Maurer with an RBI double to score Cole. The North then scored on a passed ball, with Brady Alverson then getting an RBI single for the 5-0 advantage.

In the third, Sullivan doubled for the North, advanced to third on a sacrifice hit and then took home on a pass to make it 6-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Sam Bartels hit a two-run homer to pull the North ahead 8-0.

The South came back in the fifth to score. Daniel Trevino singled, then stole second and took home on single from Cameron Keyser to make it 8-1.

The North put the game away in the fifth, with Quin Konuszewski hitting a single, followed by a double from Cole. Jack Bowerman then got an RBI with a single, followed by Ethan Pittman who drew a walk to load the bases.

Smith and Alverson then each singled scoring two runs for the 11-1 final.
