Nouvel gridders improve to 3-0

The Nouvel Catholic Central football team beat Clarkston Everest Collegiate 35-0 on Friday, Sept. 8, to move its record to 3-0.

Chargers fall to Ovid-Elsie, 43-14

Valley Lutheran lost its Sept. 8 football game to Ovid-Elsie, 43-14.

Hawks fall to Dow, 28-7

The Heritage football team lost its Sept. 8 matchup to Midland Dow 28-7. The Chargers scored two touchdowns in the second quarter for the 14-0 halftime lead, then crossed the goal line in the third and fourth quarters to go ahead 28-0. Heritage then scored with five minutes left in the game on a five yard run by Gavin Gohr for the 28-7 final. Gohr ran for 150 yards in the game with a touchdown.

Swan Valley volleyball remains ranked eighth

Swan Valley volleyball retains its number eight ranking in the state after advancing to the semifinal round of the Bay City Central Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9. The Vikings moved their record to 17-5-2, going 2-1 in pool play, losing to Garber in three sets 25-14, 20-25, 12-15, then beating Heritage 25-13, 25-23 and New Lothrop 25-13, 25-16.

Swan Valley beat Pinconning 25-11, 21-25, 15-11 in the quarterfinals before losing to Freeland 25-22, 24-26, 11-15 in the semis.

Kristen Huebner had 38 kills, 31 digs, six aces, and 24 service points. Riley McIntyre had 34 digs, three aces, and 14 service points. Hallie McIntrye had 24 kills, 15 digs, nine aces, and 27 service points. Mallory Eurich had 42 digs, three aces, and 22 service points. Jordan DeLisle had 14 kills. Claire Bierlein put up 56 set assists, to go with 17 digs, three aces, and 19 service points.
