Saginaw Township annual State of the Arts exhibition set for April 22

SAGINAW TWP. – Entry forms for the 2018 edition of the annual Saginaw Township State of the Arts Exhibition are now available. This annual event is hosted by the Saginaw Township Art In Public Places Committee.

This is a juried exhibition with cash prizes totaling approximately $4,000 underwritten by a variety of local, regional and statewide sponsors. Registration is open to all Michigan artists, 18 years or older, working in all media, except photography and digital imagery.

The registration deadline is Friday, April 6, postmarked the deadline date. Artists must submit their art work for jurying on Friday, April 13 or Saturday, April 14 (from noon to 5 p.m.), or earlier by appointment. The Art Exhibit will commence on Sunday, April 22 with the Exhibition to run through Friday, May 25th.

The juror for this year’s Art in Public Places Annual Art Show is Adam D. DeKraker, professor of photography, who has been a faculty member at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University for 14 years where he teaches courses in the graduate and undergraduate photography programs. He also serves as the president of the Kendall Faculty Association, an affiliate of the Michigan Education Association.

DeKraker holds a MFA degree from Indiana University, Bloomington (2003) and a BFA degree from Western Michigan University (1998). He has also served as a summer faculty member for the Cape Cod Photography Workshops in North Eastham, Mass, and acted as a MFA advisor to the graduate program at The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.

DeKraker has juried numerous local, regional and statewide art exhibitions, worked as a manuscript reviewer for Elsevier Publishing Company, Focal Press, Bloomsbury Publishing and AVA Academia, and is an active member of the Society for Photographic Education. His work has been featured in numerous regional, state and national exhibitions.
