The Hawks came into the game 21-1 and were ranked in the state. Dow started its season 8-5, but swept its final nine games before facing Heritage in the district final.

Heritage coach Vonnie DeLong said “This game was a big deal, a big rivalry game. You’ve got to be ready to go.”

Dow scored the first basket of the night, but then Heritage outscored the Chargers 9-2 holding Dow to only a pair of free throws, for a 9-4 lead to end the first quarter.
