Swan Valley Community Support Network to present community forum on student health, safety and security

THOMAS TWP. – Because of the national and local concern of parents regarding opiates, alcohol, and school security, the public is invited to a special presentation on Monday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Swan Valley High School Library Media Center. The event is being hosted by the Swan Valley Community Support Network.

Results of the Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth survey detailing how many students take risks with opiates, alcohol, marijuana, inhalants, or vaping will be presented. Attendees will also learn how many students have not used. They will meet the Treiber family from the Bay City Western area and learn lessons from their family story.

School security has taken on more importance and interest recently with shootings in Florida. Forum attendees will hear school administration and the Thomas Township police chief discuss procedures now in place to keep Swan Valley students safe.
