Heritage lacrosse girls fall to Grand Blanc in home opener

The Bobcats struck right away, with their first goal just 34 seconds in to the game, and then took a 2-0 lead with another goal at the 16:06 mark in the first half.

The defenses settled in to control the game. The Hawks were able to get into Grand Blanc territory but were unable to get a quality shot.

Mallory McCartney broke through for Heritage, scoring with 3:22 left in the half to make it 2-1.

Grand Blanc scored two quick goals at the 1:15 and 59 second marks to take a 4-1 lead at the half.

The Hawks came back with two goals to open the second half. Nikita Gollapudi picked up the ball and broke away to score at 19:04. Emma Badour then found the goal at 17:46 to get the Hawks within one, 4-3.

McCartney came back with two goals at 4:20 and 3:34 to make it 7-5.

Grand Blanc finished the game off with one more goal at 3:22 for the 8-5 final.

Heritage coach Andrea Addicot said she was happy with the team’s performance, saying the team picked up its play in the second half. With the team fielding only three seniors, Coach Addicot looks for the team to improve as they gain experience.
