Frank Ornelas announced as Memorial Day parade grand marshal

Frank M. Ornelas Frank M. Ornelas SAGINAW – Positive Results Downtown announces that Frank M. Ornelas has been selected to serve as grand marshal of the 2018 Memorial Day parade.

Sgt. Frank Ornelas served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He currently serves as the Michigan State Commander for the American GI Forum. Bornin Henryetta, Okla., he came to Saginaw in 1940 and has four children, Richard, Daniel, Lucinda and Theresa. He is active in St. Joseph Catholic Church and assists with military funerals.

The annual Memorial Day parade, hosted by Positive Results Downtown and the Saginaw County Veterans Memorial Plaza, will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 28.

The one and one-half mile route will begin at Federal and S. Washington avenues; continue down S. Washington Avenue, with disbanding at the Saginaw Co. Veterans Memorial Plaza located in Hoyt Park.

Veteran groups, marching bands, schools and people from the community will take part in the parade honoring those who served and/or gave their lives for freedom.

Following the parade, Saginaw County Veterans Memorial Plaza will host a ceremony to honor those who have died in military service of their country.

Positive Results Downtown is a volunteer organization concerned with creating a positive, constructive image of the City of Saginaw. It unifies, coordinates and supports common efforts of various organizations. It promotes and stimulates ongoing activities that will attract people and business to the city and contributes to the revitalization of Downtown Saginaw.
