Nouvel diamondmen mercy Saginaw

Photo by Lamont Lenar The Nouvel Catholic Central baseball team dominated Saginaw in a doubleheader on Tuesday, May 1, taking the first game 22-1 and the second 16-1, forcing mercies in both games.

Nouvel coach Shawn Larson said, “We wanted to get the batts going today, get some confidence, and the team was able to do that.”

In the first game, Saginaw opened with one run in the top of the first, for the 1-0 lead.

In the Panthers’ half of the inning, the first seven batters scored before the Trojans were able to get their first out.

Nouvel went through its entire lineup twice, with everyone getting across home plate and seven runners scoring twice for 16 runs in the inning.

Justin Osmond then struck out all three Saginaw hitters in the second inning.

The Panthers scored six more runs in the second, then shut down all three Trojan hitters in the third for the 22-1 win.

In the second game, Nouvel again went through its entire batting order in the first inning, scoring 10 runs.

Saginaw again was able score a single run in the first, to make it 10-1.

The Panthers went on and scored three runs in the second and three more in the third, for the 16-1 final.

Nouvel pitcher Harry Dwan struck out three in the first two innings with one hit. Logan Marino threw the third inning with two strikeouts against three hitters.
