Thomas Twp. board recognizes 40 years of TTBA

The Thomas Township Board of Trustees issued a proclamation recognizing the Thomas Township Business Association for 40 years of service at the board’s latest meeting on Monday, June 4. The anniversary will be officially celebrated on June 13 at the annual TTBA Steak Cookout held in the Roberts Park Soccer Complex.

The board adopted a resolution to reinstate the water service readiness to serve charges to Hemlock Semiconductor in August of this year.

Two zoning ordinance text amendments were approved. An amendment to Ordinance 18-Z- 02 has established a consistent setback from roads in the township. The second amendment, made to Ordinance 18-Z-04, allows for the first floor of new homes in the A-1 and A-2 Zoning Districts to be a built with a minimum of 700 square feet with the remaining 400 square feet of the necessary 1,100 square feet to be constructed on the second floor.

The board approved the Pump Station No. 1 Preventive Maintenance Field Service Proposal from Kennedy Industries in the amount of $5,775. Services in the proposal include the cleaning, flushing, adjusting and inspection of the pumps.

The board also approved the Water System Computer Modeling Update by Spicer Group in an amount not to exceed $5,000. This authorizes Spicer Group to update and recalibrate the township’s water system model, a computerized simulation that is executed to test the effect of numerous scenarios on the township’s water system. This information is used to identify any need for improvements.

The board purchased a 2018 Ford Utility Police Interceptor vehicle from McDonald Ford in the amount of $27,597 and approved an agreement with Chad and Kim Kloha regarding a land division at the end of Morgan Court.

Also at the meeting, Ellen Ryder- Petre resigned from the Downtown Development Authority Board and Michael Dense was appointed to serve on the DDA Board through Dec. 31, 2020. Firefighter Chloe Farnham resigned from the fire department.
