The Hawks first took down Arthur Hill 20-1 in the semifinal, then defeated Flushing in the title game 1-0.

The final was a defensive matchup. The Flushing defense made plays on the ball, running down fly balls in the outfield and the infielders getting to ground balls to limit base runners.

The Hawks shut down Flushing from the plate, with starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach throwing a complete game for the win with 13 strikeouts and allowing just one hit.

Heritage got one runner on in the first inning with Adam Coenis leading off with a single. In the second Nolan Matuszewski opened with a base hit and Alex Day took first when he was hit by a pitch.

Schwellenbach scored the winning run for the Hawks in the third inning. He bunted and took first on a fielder’s choice. He made it to third on a single from Brandon Smith, then scored on a wild pitch for the winning run.
