Horn to host June office hours in Chesaning

LANSING – State Sen. Ken Horn (R-Frankenmuth) will be available to meet with constituents on Monday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 S. Front St., Chesaning.

Horn will be on hand to answer questions and respond to concerns any residents of the district may have. No appointment is necessary.

Birding tour at the refuge

The Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge will host a birding tour on Saturday, June 23. Participants will join refuge volunteer Maureen Tulip for a ride along the Wildlife Drive, followed by a hike on the Ferguson Bayou Trail.

The group will meet at 7 a.m. at the Bishop Road parking lot, next to the Wildlife Drive entrance, for a ride along the Wildlife Drive, then meet at 10 a.m. for the hike. Participants should bring binoculars, snacks/lunch, water, insect repellent and closed-toe shoes.

Refuge to host Backyard Field Day

The Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge will host its third annual free family Backyard Field Day on Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Green Point Environmental Learning Center, 3010 Maple St., Saginaw.

There will be fishing, face painting, outdoor playground games, exhibits and much more. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Explorer Bus from Delta College, and History on the Move from the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History will be onsite as well, along with other partners. There will also be free food sponsored by Friends of the Shiawassee NWR while supplies last.
