By Mandilee Hecht

A minor injury was reported and a citation issued during an accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle in front of Heritage High School on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Saginaw Township Police responded to a call to Heritage High School on Tuesday just after 7 a.m.

According to Saginaw Township Police Chief Donald Pussehl, at 7:04 a.m. a vehicle was leaving Heritage’s south parking lot, attempting to turn onto southbound Center Road when it struck a bicyclist traveling north on the Center Road sidewalk.

The driver apparently didn’t see the 15-year-old cyclist, who is a student at Heritage High School, Pussehl said.

The student received a minor injury to her leg and refused treatment at the scene; she said she would seek medical treatment later.

The driver, a 40-year-old male from Saginaw Township, was issued a citation.
