During the meeting the board praised him for his hard work and dedication.

“In his 28 years of service I know he’s seen a lot of changes,” manager Russell Taylor said.

“He’s given exemplary leadership and guidance, and we’re looking forward to working with him for the next nine months,” he said.

The chief addressed the board as well during the Oct. 1 meeting.

“I just want you all to know how proud and honored I am to have served this community for the last 28 years,” he said. “Thank you for your loyalty, support and friendship. I’ve enjoyed my time here. This community understands what it means to serve, and the importance of giving back to the community in which we live and that supports us so strongly.”

Chief Kocsis said upon retirement, he plans to spend more time with his family and his wife, who retired this year.
