Kidposium set for Oct. 19 at SVSU

SAGINAW – It’s a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) takeover at Saginaw Valley State University and kids second – sixth grades are in the driver’s seat. Kids Rule Now! Inc. makes this day of exploration and imagination available to kids during the fourth annual KIDposium on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Saginaw Valley State University, 7400 Bay Road, University Center. Tickets include lunch and can be purchased online at www.kidsrulenow.org. The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 12.

The KIDposium STEM Sessions, led by the SVSU Mathematics and Science Center, SVSU Chemistry Club, SVSU Mobile Research Laboratory, and the Midland Professional Chapter of NOBCChE will keep the kids engaged during each interactive breakout session.

The keynote speaker is 14-yearold entrepreneur, Kamryn Chasnis, a teen chef, baker, class instructor and demonstrator in the Great Lakes Bay Region. She established her own business, Kamryn’s Creations, in 2016 and donates 50 percent of her proceeds back to local charities. Chasnis has appeared on “MasterChef Jr.” with Gordon Ramsey and “Bake it Like Buddy” (The Cake Boss) on Discovery Family. And in July 2019, she was recognized and crowned as Miss Bay County Outstanding Teen. Chasnis will share her journey of entrepreneurship and philanthropy and also explain the presence of STREAM principles in her business.

“Kids are naturally curious and innovative and we want to give them outlets of creativity in a STEM immersed environment,” said Rhonda Webb, the founder and director of Kids Rule Now! Inc. “Kids are separated by their grade level, and will enjoy active, interactive, hands-on, break out sessions lead by STEM instructors and professionals. We want these young dreamers to come away with a greater appreciation and desire for even more STEM exploration.”

The KIDposium is a family-oriented event and parents/adults have their own side of the KIDposium, separate from the kids with two impactful speakers. The adult break out session speakers are Mark Sauter, author and founder of GTP (Growth Through People) Associates, Inc., who also works closely with the Great Lakes Bay Conscious Capitalism movement, and Alexandria Jones, a member of the Michigan Army National Guard, and marketing and events coordinator at the Castle Museum.
