Optimist Club hosts annual youth appreciation luncheon

SAGINAW – The Saginaw Optimist Club hosted 56 students from 28 Saginaw County schools at its annual Youth Appreciation Luncheon. Each school was asked to send two students, who were representative of their school, to accept accolades for all the students that attend their schools. Each student received a certificate of recognition for their work within school, home, and church. These young people are the future of Saginaw and the surrounding area and need to be acknowledged as such. Approximately 60 parents attended to support and take pictures of their children.

Circuit Judge Darnell Jackson was the program speaker and provided them with good thoughts and ideas for the future.

Saginaw Mayor Dennis Browning read a proclamation from the Saginaw City Council naming this week as Youth Appreciation Week.

Jeff Wood, Saginaw Optimist Club president and Merrill Lynch advisor, presented the certificates to all attending students and thanked all the dignitaries for joining in with the Optimist Club of Saginaw for helping to honor the students. Co-chairs were Maxine Steele and Bill Urbanski.
